How much Car insurance do I need?

How high should your liability insurance be?  That’s a wide open question, but one that needs to be seriously addressed.
You can’t expect to answer this question without the advise of an insurance professional.  There are many things to take into consideration.

I received a call from an insured today.  Apparently, they received a letter from their mortgage company requesting that their home insurance policy be reviewed to determine if it is underinsured.

Can I remove my extra car from my policy?

An insured called and asked if they can remove a car from their insurance policy. 

The question is not as simple as it seems.  In California, we now have mandatory laws that dictate you must insure an owned vehicle, even if its parked and never used.

Can insurance be transferred to a new car?

The answer is Yes.  Car and motorcycle policies are usually for a 6-month or 12-month term.  The policy is on-going during the term of the contract. 

If you buy a car or motorcycle you will need to call your agent and add the vehicle to the policy.  The vehicle would be pro-rated from the date you add it to the end of the policy period.  That means the insurance company will charge you only the difference from when you added the vehicle until the expiration date.  You will also receive a multi-car discount which reduces the total premium for both vehicles.
